“We have received strong public support for a similar facility to the one constructed for the Mackays to Peka Peka section, so have brought forward the public engagement for the design,” said NZ Transport Agency Highway Manager Neil Walker.

“Initially, we want to know how people want to use the path, where they want to go when using it, and where they’d like to get on and off along the way."

If you're interested in getting involved, we'd love you to take a few minutes to fill in this short survey any time between now and Sunday 25 June 2017.

If you're nearby over the next few weekends, the project team are holding three public drop-in sessions:

DateTimeLocation
10am–2pmSaturday 10 JuneŌtaki Memorial Hall (next to the library)
10am–2pmSaturday 17 JuneTe Horo Hall
10am–2pmSaturday 24 JuneŌtaki Memorial Hall

This initial round of public engagement runs until 25 June. The feedback received will help inform two or three options, which will be brought back to the community for further input later in 2017.

“At that time, we’ll be seeking further feedback on the more detailed aspects of the path, such as what the surface should be, how the landscaping should be planted, where the signage should go, and more," says Mr Walker.
