A series of free community events will be held in the lead up to the Waterview Tunnel opening to traffic. Details of the events, terms and conditions, how to get there and who to contact for any further questions is outlined below.

Walk the Tunnel
These events are taking place on:
- Sunday 18 June
- Sunday 25 June
- Monday 26 June
- Tuesday 27 June
The walk-through is entry by time-slot, allocated tickets only. Each ticket is uniquely bar-coded. Duplicate tickets will not be accepted.
Allow extra travel time to ensure that you arrive during your allocated time slot. Ticket must be printed and presented on entry. Sturdy closed-toe footwear must be worn at all times.
Food will be available to buy before entering and after exiting the event. No food will be allowed past the ticketing area.
You can bring a drink bottle with you and refill it at our water station.
The walk is approximately 2.5–3.5 kilometres, depending on which return option is taken.
People under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The ramps and walkways being used for the event are suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and buggies. No scooters, cycles, skateboards or other wheel operated equipment will be permitted.
Bike the Tunnel
These events are taking place on:
- Friday 23 June
- Sunday 25 June
The cycle-through is entry by time-slot, allocated tickets only. Each ticket is uniquely bar-coded. Duplicate tickets will not be accepted.

The ride is approximately 5.5km (return). This event is restricted to people aged 16 years and over.
Cycles only. No other wheel operated equipment will be allowed on the cycle (including scooters, skateboards, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and buggies).
Cycle helmets must be worn during the ride.

Getting there and parking
There are two entrances to the event. One is at Barrymore Rd (off Hendon Ave) and the other is between 163 and 173 Richardson Rd.
Public transport is recommended. Plan your trip at www.aucklandtransport.govt.nz
Parking in the area is limited. Please referFor walking events there will be free buses from Mt Albert train station to map below. Some limited parking in the area is being provided at a small cost and will require a 20-30 minute walk tofrom the event.

Please be mindful of our neighbours. Parking enforcement will be in place.
The area will be very busy so expect delays.
