Charging station | The charging station supplies and manages the electricity that is supplied to the electric vehicle and ensures that the charging of the electric vehicle is safe. |
Connector | The connection point at the end of the supply cable that is coupled with the vehicle inlet to connect the vehicle to the charging point. |
Fast charging | Electric vehicle supply equipment that is designed to support a quick turnover of vehicles, providing a vehicle recharge within a shorter period of time. This equipment is typically provided in places such as service stations, alongside roads and highways. |
Inlet | The connection point on the vehicle that a connector is coupled with. |
Public charging infrastructure | Electric vehicle supply equipment that is accessible to the general public. This equipment is typically provided in places such as service stations, alongside roads and highways and at tourist attractions. |
Slow charging | Electric vehicle supply equipment that is designed to support dedicated charging at the driver’s destination over a longer period of time. This equipment is typically provided in places such as all-day carparks & tourist destinations. |
Supply cable | The supply cable transfers electricity from the charging station to the vehicle connector on the EV. It also provides communication between the vehicle and the charging station, allowing the vehicle and charging station to work together to control how and when the vehicle is charged. |
