The NZ Transport Agency, along with GO Rentals and HMI Technologies, is running a safety trial using real time messaging through bluetooth technology to visiting drivers.
The trial will run from 2 July on the state highway between Christchurch to Queenstown.
The NZ Transport Agency on behalf of the Government seeks to deliver efficient, safe and resilient highway solutions for customers. The trial is not specifically targeted at visiting drivers but is working with the programme to judge whether this would be a value add service to the suite of safety measures undertaken by the NZ Transport Agency.
The trial aims to create visibility around the potential of technology to improve safety outcomes in remote locations. This safety initiative is being tested as part of an on-going suite of safety offerings delivered by the Transport Agency.
