The National Land Transport Programme is our key commitment with the sector for how we will use national land transport funding to provide all users of the transport system with a safe, integrated network they can rely on.
With the 2018-21 NLTP cycle coming up, there are a range of activities underway to ensure the process is as simple, streamlined and transparent as possible.
Through these pages we provide a range of resources and updates to help with the NLTP development process, as well as early indications of how we plan together with our investment partners to shape the 2018-21 NLTP together.
New Zealanders need a transport system that connects individuals and communities, enables our economy to thrive. That’s not something the Transport Agency can do alone.
Our aim is to ensure the RLTP review and NLTP development process is as easy as possible for everyone to engage with and participate in. At each key stage in the process we will be looking for your feedback on how we can do things better – improving the tools that are available and providing clearer, earlier guidance.
We want to know what a successful process looks like from your point of view and what we can do to best support that.
With this in mind, we will be looking to engage with our key partners and stakeholders between now and the middle of next year on a range of initiatives that are underway as part of the coming NLTP process.
Aspects of the 2018-21 NLTP we’ll be talking with you about this year (2016)
- Our Long-Term View of the network
- Improved business case guidance
- Greater clarity and transparency in our investment decision making processes
- Embedding the One Network Road Classification into our maintenance investment framework
- Early indications of any investment priorities based on regional issues and opportunities identified with stakeholders
Other areas we’ll be talking with you about early next year (2017)
- Development of the State Highways Investment Proposal
- Regional Economic Development
- Government Policy Statement for Land Transport
- Indications of any investment priorities or other guidance from specific activity classes
We’ll provide updates and information on this page at each key stage.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, talk to your regional contact at the Transport Agency or contact us at NLTP2018-2021@nzta.govt.nz.
We look forward to working with you to create a better future for New Zealand.
