Information about roadworks in the Wellington-Kāpiti region
Well maintained roads are an important part of keeping people safe. While we aim to do this work with as little disruption as possible, we know that roadworks can be inconvenient. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we do this important work.
Please drive carefully through work sites and stick to the temporary speed limits. If you’re driving around the Wellington region, roadworks on the state highway network may affect your travel plans.
Below is a quick outline of the major works planned for the coming week from Sunday 20 November 2016 . We’ll keep you posted on future works and have regular updates on local radio stations.
Wednesday night, 23 November
Road closure SH58 Paremata Road :
- From Paremata to Postgate roundabouts closed for emergency road repairs in area affected by slips last week
- Closed for up to 5 hours from 10pm
- Traffic controllers will guide residents through
Thursday night, 24 November
Mt Victoria Tunnel full tunnel closure from 9pm to 5.30am for:
- Sewer pipeline replacement near Paterson Street traffic lights
- Tunnel camera recalibrations
Traffic should use alternate routes:
- Via Aotea Quay around the harbour bays
- Via Newtown to Constable Street
Pedestrians and cyclists:
- The path through the tunnel remains OPEN
